Liebster Blog Award

Louba from Beautiful or practical honoured me with a Liebster Blog Award. This award is given to blogs with fewer than 200 followers, with "good content" that warrant more support.

I’m genuine surprised and thankful that Louba thinks my blog has good content. Thank you so much, it really means a lot to me.

The rules of the award are:

1.    Show your thanks to those who gave you the award by linking back to them.
Louba, thank you again for giving me such a sweet award.

2.    Reveal 5 of your top picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.

This is always the hardest part with this kind of awards… People I’ve chosen are all brilliant writers and kind and supportive people, worth following.

Shopgirl - A Blessing A Day

Light208 - Shadows

3.   Post the award on your blog.

4.   Enjoy the love and support of some wonderful people on the www!!! Keep posting, keep commenting and keep being positive.

A Blog with Substance

I’m having something what I could easily call a (very) bad week so you can imagine that I was over the roof when Caterpillar (from Musings And confessions of a Wandering Mind) informed me that she is giving me A Blog with Substance Award. Thank you so much Cat, it really means so much to me! It’s nice to know that someone thinks my blogs have substance.

The rules are pretty much the same as always. I have to write 7 random facts about me and pass the award to 7 bloggers. I hope it’ll be easier this time… so, here we go:

  • I’m very, very, very stubborn.
  • I like some Enrique Iglesias songs.
  • I have a great relationship with my in-laws. (I’m not quite sure if I can call them in-laws because I’m not married to Mr Starlight. But anyway, I have a great relationship with his parents and his brother and that’s all that matters.)
  • I’m wearing a lovely violet nail polish which I bought yesterday. It’s Catrice – Lucky In Lilac and it’s wonderful, I love it!
  • I’m allergic to cats which is terrible since I love them!
  • I love chocolate. (that’s not very random since most people I know love chocolate…)
  • I have two exams next week so I’m very busy these days and also quite cranky.
·
Ok, I’m done with random facts about me (some are temporary but I’m sure they still count, right?).

And now a list of 7 bloggers to whom I’m passing the award:

o   Chief aka Dad from Unsound Reasoning
o   Keith from Snap Dragon Photography
o   Light208 from Shadows

My work here is done!

The Versatile Blogger Award

One of my friends surprised me for my birthday with a wonderful Versatile Blogger Award. She wrote the first ever guest post I hosted a couple of weeks ago about her amazing Grandma Polly. You probably guessed by now that I’m talking about Barbara whose thoughts you can read on Notes from the second half. Barbara, thank you again!

In order to accept this award I should write 7 things about me and pass the award to 7 bloggers. Two very hard tasks since I’ve done this a couple of times before, but I’ll give it a try.

Here are 7 facts (random and in no particular order) about me:

  • I’m a cat person and I don’t like dogs. I’ve been bitten by dog twice (once in my eye and it almost lost eyesight and the second time I was bitten in my calf) and I think that’s a pretty good reason for not being fond of dogs. And it’s also a good reason for being afraid of them.

  • I have a clear picture of how and when things should be done and get very upset, disturbed and even angry when things are not done the right way (which is my way, of course). You can call me a control freak.

  • I love turtles. I have two at my parent’s house where they have their own space in our garden. They are lovely.

  • I love wearing big rings, different shapes and colours.

  • I Tweet. A year ago I was very sceptical about Twitter and didn’t like it but then I gave it a chance and now I love it. My username is @ShinyStarlight if you want to follow me.

  • I love Grey’s Anatomy and watch it on a regular basis.

  • My dream car is an Aston Martin V12 Vantage. No words needed.

The first part of my job is done and it wasn’t as tough as the last time. But the hardest part is to choosing 7 bloggers. The last couple of times I got the awards I passed them to everyone but this time I’ll follow the rules and pick out seven bloggers:

Mission accomplished.

The Memetastic award

Today I got another award. Chief aka Dad honoured me with the Memetastic award. Thank you so much, I am really happy about it!

Chief’s blog is very funny and I love reading it, I’m just sorry that I didn’t discover it earlier. For those of you who aren’t familiar with his blog – go on and check it out, it’s worth your time!

This award is a bit different from the others I got in the past because I have to write 4 lies and one truth and you have to guess which one is true. How fun is that?

So here we go:

1.     I love snakes. A couple of times I got a chance to hold a snake in my arms and I really enjoyed it. I love how smooth the skin of these animals is and they’re very nice and friendly. I want to have one someday but Mr. Starlight says no way.

2.     A couple of years ago I was drawing in the sand with my leg and I broke my big toe.

3.     I’m afraid of hairdressers. My hair grows so slowly that I really don’t like to see scissors near my head and every time I have to go to the hairdresser I freak out.

4.     I’m allergic to peanuts. Once I had to see a doctor because I ate something containing peanuts and I didn’t know about it and I got a really severe reaction.

5.     I am fluent in French. I really enjoyed spending some time in France last summer because I got to use French which is one of my favourite languages in the whole world.

Which one do you think is true?

And now I have to give this award to a couple of people and it’s a hard decision as always. Last time I got an award I gave it to all of my readers (just a couple of you accepted it though) and I’m doing the same thing again.

I give this award to each and every one of you awesome guys and girls and I’m looking forward to reading your lies and guessing the truth.

The Stylish blogger Award

I got a wonderful surprise today. An amazing blogger Caterpillar passed the Stylish blogger Award to me. Thank you so much Cat, it was a really nice surprise and I’m very grateful and honoured. (To all of you, who are reading this: Please check out her blog, she’s a very talented writer).

There are a couple of “duties” I have to perform in order to accept this award.

1.           Thank and link back to the person who gave this award to you which I already did.

2.           Share 7 things about yourself – This will be a though one (I know from experience) but I’ll give it a try:

               I.      I don’t like soft vegetables and fruit. A soft apple or carrot – no thanks, I’ll pass. Don’t ask me why because I don’t know, that’s just the way I’ve always been.

II.      I'm against war and weapons but I like war movies and tv shows. In fact - Band of brothers is one of my favourite shows. That’s a weird combination I know.

III.      My nails are always painted. Red, blue, violet, black, you name it. I feel like I’m not myself if my nails aren’t painted and I never go out of the apartment without paint on my nails.

IV.      I’ve always wanted to become a writer. Maybe I will some day, who knows?

           V.      I have ugly handwriting and I’ve always justified it with the same sentence: “We, intelligent people, don’t care about our handwriting because it doesn’t really matter how we write.”

VI.      Sleeping is my favourite hobby. I can fall asleep at any time of day and I really enjoy it.

VII.      My sour taste didn’t develop properly so I can eat/drink extremely sour foods/drinks and taste just a little of the flavour. And that’s not very good for me, because I love sour tastes so something has to be really sour for me to taste it.

3.           Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers – I admit that I’ll cheat a bit. I won’t just nominate recently discovered bloggers but the ones who I think deserve the award:

Shopgirl - A blessing a day

Nikki - Nikki travels

4.         Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award – Will do it right after I publish this post.

I would like to say thank you again to Catrpillar and congratulate her and all the other bloggers who won this award.

And the award goes to....

I just found out that I got my first blogging award which made me very very happy (try to imagine me jumping around and dancing my happy dance).

A very talented and sweet blogger Christine passed the award to me and I didn’t even notice that I’m one of the five bloggers she had chosen so she sent me an email asking if I noticed I won the award (I’m very busy studying). Isn’t that really sweet of her? Do check out her blog.

I’m really happy I won the award and very honoured since there are so many talented and gifted writers out there.

Christine, thank you again, you really made my day!

Now I’m supposed to share five random facts about myself since that’s the tradition when receiving this award.

This sound’s much easier than it actually is, but I’ll give it a try. Here are random facts about me (in no particular order):

1.      I talk in my sleep. And not just talk… I have long conversations, sometimes with myself and sometimes with Mr. Starlight. A couple of nights ago I was talking to myself in English (or so I was told) and this is a bit weird since my mother tongue is Slovenian.

2.      I love cactuses. I used to collect them but then I moved away from home and now I don’t have any idea where my collection is. I’m sad because of it but I don’t have space in my small apartment for all those cactuses and I always forget to ask my Mum where they are.

3.      I’m a huge Formula 1 fan. I’ve watched it every Sunday after lunch with my Dad and we had always fought about it since we never supported the same driver or team. I still watch it and I’m really happy that Mr. Starlight is also a fan since less and less people enjoy watching this wonderful motorsport.

4.      I own a BlackBerry Curve 8900 (random, ha?). I really wanted one and I got it for my birthday in March. I still love it as much as I did it when I got it (this is very unusual for me since i get bored with every phone in a couple of weeks).

5.      I "ran over" a motorcyclist once. Well actually he hit me... I cut him of in a T-junction and he crashed into me. The police said it was my fault, because I cut him off, but he was driving way over the speed limit and I didn't see him, because he was coming around a corner really fast and by the time he was in my eyesight it was too late, so I really think it was actually his fault.  I had to go in front of a judge, and I got 60 hours of community service. I hate motorcyclists since then.

This was a really hard task (believe it or not, I was writing this for about 45 minutes). But now I have an even harder task to do, following the tradition: Choosing five (just five!!) bloggers to pass the award to.
There are so many excellent writers on my reading list and I would love to pass the award to all of them. But I have to choose just five. So here they are:

With cherry on the freakin’ top - http://witcherry.blogspot.com/

Check out their blogs, they are all very talented writers and they all have different styles of writing so I’m sure you won’t be bored.

Love,
Starlight
