A snake

I’m sure I’ve already mentioned that I’m afraid of the snakes, really afraid. It's a phobia.

Yesterday Mr Starlight and I went out for a walk in the nearby park. We were walking on a path through a forest which leads from our street to the park. And then I saw it. A snake. It was a small brown snake but it caused me a serious panic attack.

I started to cry; I couldn’t even yell because I could frighten it and it could end badly. Well, it was probably a harmless snake and it wouldn’t end badly but in that moment my instinct said that it could end badly.

Mr Starlight didn’t see it and didn’t know why I was crying so I tried to explain that I saw a snake and, of course, he didn’t believe me. He looked back and he didn’t see it so he thought I imagined it. But I knew it was there and I was panicking, crying and hopping.

Yes, I was hopping and the reason for me doing it is quite simple. I knew we can’t go back the same way we came even though it was the shortest way back home; we could see it again and that was the last thing in the world I wanted. We had no choice but to continue walking onward and I couldn’t just walk. I can’t really explain this but I wasn’t able to walk normally. I couldn’t. I wanted to run as fast as I could but that also wasn’t a good option; there could be another snake somewhere on the path and if I was running I couldn’t see it and I could step on it. So I really didn’t have any other option than to hop.

When we came out of the forest on the asphalt I still couldn’t walk quite normally, I was still panicking, unable to breathe normally or to talk like a normal human being. It took me an hour or so to calm down and I spent it trying to convince Mr Starlight that there indeed was a snake but it seems that he still thinks that it was just my imagination.

But it wasn’t.

I really saw it.

The truth

In my previous post I wrote five facts about me. Four of them were false and only one was truth.

I tried to write down plausible lies and a weird truth. I managed to fool most of you which is quite a success, isn’t it?

I shall reveal the truth to those of you who are wondering which one wasn’t a lie…

Here we go… The truth is #2!

And now, let me explain the truth about these facts I wrote in previous post:

1.     I’m very afraid of snakes and I would never, ever touch one. I even panic if I see a picture of a snake.

2.     I really did break my big toe in the sand, but I have to explain… There was concrete under the sand and I kicked in the concrete while I was drawing a line. It makes more sense now, right? But I’m sure you would have all guessed it if I would tell you the whole story.

3.     I’m most certainly not afraid of hairdressers since my hair grows very (and by this I mean really very, very) fast. I’m always excided when I have an appointment at the hairdressers and I’m not afraid to experiment with my haircuts.

4.     I’m not allergic to peanuts.

5.     I’m (sadly) not fluent in French. But I wish I was because it is one of my favourite languages in the whole world.

Congrats to Baglady and Doria who guessed the truth!

The Memetastic award

Today I got another award. Chief aka Dad honoured me with the Memetastic award. Thank you so much, I am really happy about it!

Chief’s blog is very funny and I love reading it, I’m just sorry that I didn’t discover it earlier. For those of you who aren’t familiar with his blog – go on and check it out, it’s worth your time!

This award is a bit different from the others I got in the past because I have to write 4 lies and one truth and you have to guess which one is true. How fun is that?

So here we go:

1.     I love snakes. A couple of times I got a chance to hold a snake in my arms and I really enjoyed it. I love how smooth the skin of these animals is and they’re very nice and friendly. I want to have one someday but Mr. Starlight says no way.

2.     A couple of years ago I was drawing in the sand with my leg and I broke my big toe.

3.     I’m afraid of hairdressers. My hair grows so slowly that I really don’t like to see scissors near my head and every time I have to go to the hairdresser I freak out.

4.     I’m allergic to peanuts. Once I had to see a doctor because I ate something containing peanuts and I didn’t know about it and I got a really severe reaction.

5.     I am fluent in French. I really enjoyed spending some time in France last summer because I got to use French which is one of my favourite languages in the whole world.

Which one do you think is true?

And now I have to give this award to a couple of people and it’s a hard decision as always. Last time I got an award I gave it to all of my readers (just a couple of you accepted it though) and I’m doing the same thing again.

I give this award to each and every one of you awesome guys and girls and I’m looking forward to reading your lies and guessing the truth.

10 truths about me

Since I’m a new blogger I decided to write a 10 things blog post and try to introduce myself. So here I am:

1. I’m quite a pessimist and I always see the dark side of a situation. I’m also good in exaggeration, that’s why I need people around me to be positive and rational to help me rationalize my mind and actions. I’m working on this and I’m trying not to exaggerate, which isn’t going as well as my aspiration to see things positive (not finished with this either)…
2. I’m a city girl! I love the city pulse and having everything at the reach of hand. It’s great to go to the old part of the city in a small pub or café and have a nice evening with my friends. That’s why it’s a disaster that I’m born in a really small town where nothing’s going on. Ever. But now I’m living in Ljubljana (the capital of Slovenia), which suits me very well :)

3. I’m studying political science. Though it wasn’t my first choice I’m very satisfied with it at the moment. I wanted to study journalism but I knew I didn’t have a chance to get into the course so I chose political science. First year was hard for me, I wasn’t interested in the studies but now that I'm in third year I love it.

4. Generally I have very bad memory but I remember some things so clearly like they would happen a minute ago. That’s why I hate it when my boyfriend is trying to convince me that I’m wrong about something that I remember as clear as if I would have photographic memory. I heard there are some exercises for improving memory, I should do that!

5. I hate being alone. I was an only child until I was 13 so as a little girl I was always in the centre of attention, which I loved. There was always someone around me. I have problems with being alone and that doesn’t mean that someone has to talk to me all the time. I just like having someone around me doing whatever he or she wants.

6. I’m afraid of a painful death – mostly in a sense that someone would torture me and then kill me. If you really have to do it (I wouldn’t mind if you don’t!), do it fast!! Just shoot me in my head and don’t freaking miss!!But I’m also afraid of slow dying as a result of some horrible disease. I don’t want to suffer.

7. I’m afraid of snakes and not just afraid – it’s phobia! I can’t see a picture of sneak without yelling and screaming and getting scared to death. If someone talks about them I get horrified and I start to look around if there’s a snake anywhere near.

8. I have coeliac disease which means I can’t eat products that contain gluten which is in wheat, oats, barley and rye. The doctors discovered I don’t tolerate gluten when I was 17 so for the past 5 years I have to watch what I eat very carefully.

9. I love food and I love eating. Since I’m gluten intolerant my choices can be quite limited and I hate it with all my heart. But that doesn’t ruin my appetite it’s just that I have to be very careful about what I eat. Oh, and I also like to cook.

10. I’m a control freak. I have to have everything under my control, I have to know everything. That’s mostly bothering to my friends who have to plan their activities with me a couple of days in advance, since I have to have a plan. And it freaks me out if everything doesn’t go as planned.

Hmmm… It seems like I mostly described negative things about me… If anyone’s interested I could also write down some of my more positive qualities :)
