Since tomorrow is Halloween I think it’s an appropriate time to admit I don’t get it. I don’t get the dressing part; I don’t get the candy part. I don’t get it at all.
Maybe the reason for this is that Halloween came to Slovenia in the 90s and we don’t have big Halloween parties like America does. Some people have private parties but it’s not widespread.
We have costume parties in the end of February when we have a holiday which is supposed to “scare winter away”.
It’s not that I don’t like Halloween I just don’t get it.
Perfect. Just right for 100 words :)
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Such a nice comment from you means a lot to me because I really admire and love your writing.
ReplyDeleteY'know, I don't get it either. Why the hell would grown adults/parents dress their kids up to go around, house to house, begging for freakin' candy!? I know the holiday's origins are pagan, I know nothing more. (but now I'll probably go look it up somewhere and school myself). Regardless, we should stop teaching kids to beg for candy... it goes against the "don't take candy from strangers" rule that we teach them! HA!
ReplyDeleteGreat, honest post!
Croatia is agreeing with you :)
