Road trip pt. 1 - The idea

It all started out in the beginning of 2010 when Mr. Starlight’s parents told us that they’re planning a bike trip from St. Moritz, Switzerland to Vienna, Austria in July. They asked us if we could drive them to St. Moritz because it would be much easier for them not to go there by car. We’re both passionate drivers and we love road trips so we were very excited about this idea.

A couple of days later Mr. Starlight showed me his idea of our trip back from St. Moritz on Google Maps. We would go to Munich, Germany and then to Salzburg, Austria and via Vienna, Austria back home.

“It’ll take us a few days.” Mr. Starlight said. “Two or three days, no more.”

I liked the idea, but just a few days later Mr. Starlight came up with a new one.

“If we’re already in Vienna we could go back to Celje via Bratislava and Budapest. It’s not very far away. So the whole trip would take us about five days.”

I’m quite adjustable and, as I already said, I love road trips so I agreed with the new idea.

Mr. Starlight spent hours on Google Maps, planning our road trip and every couple of days he came up with a new, better idea. He added more and more cities and I was more and more confused about the whole trip; I couldn’t keep up with him.

In March my friend U. told me that she and her boyfriend L. are going to Paris in April. I was a bit jealous and I told Mr. Starlight that I would also love to go to Paris since I’ve never been there before. He immediately went to his computer opened Google Maps and stared at his screen for a long time. I distracted myself with something (I don’t remember what) and after a long time he told me that we’re going to Paris.

“Isn’t that going the wrong way?” I asked, surprised. “I thought we’ll just drive your parents to St. Moritz and then go back home but you want to go in the opposite direction.”

“You said you want to go to Paris so I’ll take you to Paris.” He said, determined.

After this conversation I totally lost track of his plans. He changed his mind every day and even though I tried to take part in planning our trip I was unable to because I just couldn’t keep up with Mr. Starlight’s plans.
